It’s no secret that publications everywhere are going through a major rethink as shifts in the media landscape force papers to adapt, and, in a lot of cases, to cut freelance writer–penned columns like this one.
— Eye Weekly lays off Denise Benson but at least lets her give a proper goodbye in the paper (rather than the more tradition letting-one’s-friends-know-via-a-Facebook-status-update).
Rather than investing money to create content worth tweeting about without a cash incentive to do so, Eye has decided to skip the middle (writer) man.
